COMMITMENT TO TRAINING THE FILIPINO SEAFARER
The
Magsaysay Institute of Shipping (MIS) / MOL Training
Center Philippines was estabilshed in 1993 by
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation
as part of their commitment to investing in training
that ensures excellence among Filipino seafarers.
MIS, located at Dasmariñas, Cavite, is
one of the largest state-of-the -art maritime
training centers in the country, providing pre-shipboard
and upgrading training courses.
The Institute offers the Officer Candidate Course
, which molds MOL Scholars and MIS cadets into
future captains and chief engineers; and the upgrading
program, which serves as a venue for seafarers
to continue enhancing their knowledge and skills.
Over 2,400 cadets have passed through the OCC
since 1993, while the Upgrading Program has benefited
more than 19,000 seafarers. Conferences and seminars
are also organized as a way of keeping MAGMOL
seafarers up-to-date with the current issues relevant
to the seafaring industry.
True to its commitment, last July, 2007, MOL acquired
its first dedicated training ship, T/S SPIRIT
OF MOL, aimed to recruit and develop excellent
seafarers under an intensive education curriculum
on a cross-cultural mixed set-up. The Ultimate
goal is to cultivate skilled MOL seafarers by
offering the same training that the Japanese students
receive, promote safe operations, protection of
marine environment and enhance cross-cultural
communications.
As a leading crew manning agency in the country,
MAGMOL plays a significant role in boosting the
Philippine economy with the training and employment
opportunities it provides to Filipinos.
MAGMOL BUILDS UP ITS EMPLOYEES
Playing a big role in the success of
MAGMOL is the dynamic team of men and women who
provide quality service to seafarers and their
families. MAGMOL organizes various activities
such as participation in Human Resource Management
Courses, teambuilding, and other developmental
trainings aiming to achieve its employees’
fullest potentials.
